Embracing Change: Moving House, New Careers, and Supporting Women through Hypnotherapy

Moving house and changing careers can be one of life's most transformative experiences. For me, the journey from Aberystwyth to Pontardawe marks not only a change in scenery but also a significant shift in my professional and personal life. After twenty fulfilling years as a teacher, I am stepping into the world of full-time hypnotherapy. This transition brings with it a mix of excitement and nervousness, especially with the added responsibilities of helping my children adapt to new schools and making our new house a home. With moving day just a few days away and the removal vans arriving on Monday, nerves are running high, but we are ready to embrace this new chapter. Here’s how we are navigating this journey and embracing the changes ahead.

The Move: From Renting to Owning

Buying our home for the first time is both thrilling and daunting. The sense of permanence and ownership is empowering, yet the logistics of moving can be stressful. We’ve been saving up for years to get a deposit, thinking the day would never come, and it’s finally here! We’re planning on transforming our new house into a home by personalizing each space, I’m actually allowed to paint and wallpaper, things that I’ve never been able to do in a rental, dreaming of colours and constantly on Instagram and Pinterest getting loads of ideas.

This transition has definitely taught us the value of organization and patience as we settle into a new routine.

Children's Transition: New Schools and New Beginnings

One of our biggest challenges is ensuring our children feel secure and happy in their new environment. Moving schools can be unsettling, but with open communication and support, we are helping them navigate this change. We spent a week at the new school to ease their transition before the long summer holidays, establishing a routine and encouraging them to get involved in school activities. Providing emotional support has been crucial in easing their anxiety. My eldest daughter has also had a few Hypnotherapy sessions, to get over the anxiety of starting a new school, it was so powerful, that on her first day at the new school, she swung the car door open and exclaimed, I’m going to make 25 new friends today!

Career Shift: From Teacher to Hypnotherapist

After two decades of teaching, shifting to full-time hypnotherapy is a significant change. Reflecting on my teaching career fills me with pride, yet the prospect of starting anew as a hypnotherapist is invigorating. I’ve prepared for this transition by acquiring necessary certifications completing many CPD’s and recently with world renowned hypnotherapist Anthony and Freddy Jacquin, Freddy Jacquin, UK Hypnotherapist: inventor of The Arrow Technique setting up my practice, and reaching out to potential clients. Balancing my excitement with the inevitable nerves, I focus on the new opportunities to help others through hypnotherapy.

Managing Anxiety and Stress During Major Life Changes

Anxiety and stress are natural responses to major life changes. Understanding this, I employ several strategies to manage these feelings, including mindfulness, regular exercise, even if it’s a quick walk around the block between packing boxes, and of course hypnotherapy sessions. I’ve been doing a lot of self-hypnosis to keep calm and patient, waiting for solicitor phone calls and exchange dates! These practices help me stay grounded and focused, making the transition smoother for myself and my family.
